Out With The Old Again & In With The New

Now that I have finished the den, I'm thinking seriously about doing something to the kitchen. When I look out from the den into the kitchen it gives me a sense of leaving a calm area entering a business, looking at the wall paper. What do you think?

Now I'm not thinking of doing any remolding as it's not in the budget. I have to keep the counter tops and the black splash. I'm just wondering about a paint choice that would blend in nicely with what I have.

I would probably change out the accessories too.

The counter tops and back splash are all around. Here......

over there. I'm thinking possibly some creamy beige color.

Any suggestions, I just feel like ripping away at the wall paper, and starting new. I'm also considering the bamboo blinds. Do you think that would look to plain, creamy beige and bamboo blinds.

I actually think the wallpaper is really pretty, but more suited for a bedroom. I think a creamy beige would brighten things up and look really lovely! Whatever you do, it's going to look great!

I think that would look great! I am not a big wallpaper fan. I think because I have had to take it down so often at different times in my life. I think that if you get some colorful accessories..it will look awesome. I love the new shades that are out there. I look forward to seeing your genius! :)

You could do one of the colors from your Den, if you really wanted them to match.

Or if you like the color of my living room (it is very similar to your den...it is called Outback by Behr.

You could do an apple green maybe? Or a Robin Egg blue? Then you can do the cream in the eating area.

I know whatever you do will look good! Can't wait!!! :)

Really pretty kitchen to start with. Great cabinets and I love your table and chairs. A good way to achieve a calming effect is to combine the color of the prominent features in the room...the cabinets, counter, floor and choose that color. So, probably it will be a beige or tan.

Sounds like you're on the right track.
Good luck!

I truly don't know what you mean, deb chick! I love how you have it - cozy and warm. BUT if you're not happy with it then ain't nobody happy, honey. Go for it. I like the idea you came up with. Light cream beige with maybe wood blinds. You can get them online reaaaallllllllly cheap. I have the wood white ones and absolutely love them - privacy without darkness.

I really enjoyed my first visit to your blog. You have a very nice kitchen. I love the cupboards. I agree that a creamy beige would be a nice color. You have wonderful taste and I'm looking forward to see your finished kitchen. I plan to get into the painting mode when school starts.

Deb, You have such good taste that whatever you do will be wonderful.
The good thing about paint is that you can change it easier than wallpaper when you want a new look. You'll have a whole new house before long. What fun.

Then creamy beige it is ladies. The real work is going to be the taking down of the wall paper. I hope I can get it off clean so I won't have any patchwork to do. Thanks! for your help.I'll let you know when I start. Deb

Your cabinets are beautiful, Deb! I see you've decided on creamy beige and that was going to be my suggestion. The bamboo shades will be great, too.

Taking wallpaper off! I have done it more than I can say! I bought all the fancy stuff at the store..and guess what save your money! Buy a thing to score the paper...a water bottle fill with normal tap water and a scraper. score..spray..let sit for about five minutes..scrape and peel. Easy as pie!

Thank you so much for directing me back to your blog. I read your post from Thursday. You have a wonderful faith and your words are a tribute to that faith. I am going to Donna's Story. Hearing about the faith of others that have gone through such an experience is comforting.

You have anice and clean kitchen. LOL. Not that I wouldn't expect you to or anything like that but it doesn't even look like a kitchen, it's so clean and perfect.

I think the wallpaper should be removed and the paint should be more of an earth color. Creamy beige does appear to fit your kitchen and cabinets just right.

Deb, I am excited to see your kitchen project. I agree getting the paper off is the hard part. It's pretty. But, I can see where you are ready for a change. I love my paint color. It's just a little darker than a creamy beige. It's Valspar's breadloaf. I have wood blinds that I love because I can adjust them to see outside through them. I do love bamboo shades, too! Please.. take pictures to walk us through the process. You know after I lost my dad I really threw myself into decorating our house. It really helped me through some tough days. xoxoxoTerrie

Well you did such a nice job on your den that I know whatever you do will be just lovely. Sometimes we're just ready for a change.

I spent the weekend entirely changing my bedroom. No paint. No new furniture. Just rearranging and organizing. I feel like I have a new room and am so happy with it.

I think you should just go for it! The simple changes you mentioned sound like it will lend a very peacefulness to you room and that is always nice.

Smiles,
Lea
