STILL PREPARING MY GARDENS

Saturday I bought landscape lights for the front of the house, after putting them out yesterday I needed two extras. I remembered when I bought them there was only one box left. Fearing that it would be gone when I got there and having to drive far to the next closest store, I grabbed my husband and off we went .

The sky looked as if the bottom would fall out any momment.

But we continued on, I was on a mission.

Finally, were here! We hurried inside.

Wow it was still there, and with many more. I asked my husband if he thought we needed more but he said not. I loaded it into the basket and pressed on. Right to the garden center.

They had beutiful bedding plants and baskets.

But what I'm really drawn to is, May Night Salvia, the purple ones. I love these and I can use a few more. I got three plants but will probably split each one into three.

This morning after dropping Kandace off at school, I stopped at Lowes and bought Red Salvia and a 8" pot of Dwarf Coreopsis, the yellow plant. My background now has a picture of a Dwarf Coreopsis from one of my front beds. I will split it also, maybe into four. I got the Begonias at Wal-Mart, while doing a little grocery shopping this morning.

And I also picked up this Geranium for my aunts birthday.

This is a picture of one of my landscape lights they came with stakes and hangers, so I staked some and hung some. I will show all after my planting is done, I can't wait until the plants mature. What? Of course that's where I'll be the rest the day. Happy Planting. Deb

My Cozy, Comfortable, Garden Room

These are pictures of my Living and Dining Rooms. I like things full and plush. It's cozy to me. I'm also drawn the garden look, earth tones, and accessories with an out-of-doors motif. The coffee table was found at a yard sale. When I bought it, it was a wheat color and I stained it red mahogany.

This dinning table had only four chairs and I found the bench at Hobby Lobby, it was an outdoor piece of furniture but I knew it would go nicely with my dinette set and it seats three. I made the cushion myself and covered it with gingham fabric that I found at Wal-Mart for only 2.00 dollars a yard. The table against the wall in back I found at a yard sale for 40.00. You may be able to see it better in the next picture.

The picture in the back ground is mounted to half of a louvered door. Before I bought the picture I only had the door there and with the surrounding accessories it looked as if it could be doorway out into the garden.

What A Beautiful Sight

Each morning I make my rounds raising the blinds to let the sun shine in. This morning from my back window I could see that a jet had left an exhaust trail in the sky. It was so beautiful. I got my camera , took a picture, and just stood there gazing at the sky. As I looked, I notice the trees still bare from winter, it came to mind that soon they would be clothed with greenery but, how tall and proud they looked even in their nakedness. I thought about the beauty in all seasons and how often we think of seasons only in relation weather, then this scripture came to mind.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens
2 A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

In this poem Solomon reflects on all of life by giving 14 pairs of opposite circumstances, that Gods has a sovereign design behind all events.

I Kiss Better Than I Cook

I bought this sign for my husband hoping that maybe he would choose my wonderful kisses over my cooking but, that was just an illusion of mine. " Dinner needs to be on the table". He came home from work last night so cute and happy, walks through the door and heads straight to the kitchen. There’s nothing. The look on his face was a look to be studied, "by scientist". It was like shock times 20. It was like this can’t be happening times 20. Now I’m saying to myself, come on now, nobody expects dinner "everyday", or could it be that my cooking is actually better than my kisses? Well, I dismissed that thought quickly, how ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong now, I love my husband very much and it’s not too often that this happens to him. I will do anything for him and although cooking could be last on that long list, I will place it around second. So tonight when he gets home, I’ll have a scrumptious meal waiting for him and happy will once again enter his world, and everything be alright. Enjoy yours, Deb.

Spring Is Finally Here

I love spring. The signs are beginning to show, like this windchime I bought years ago. It was meant to be a flower pot but, because I was hanging it high, it was small, and I thought of tired arms, it would just be a chime.
To my surprise and pleasure, it became a home to a family of birds. I watched this couple build their nest and settle in. A lot of work went into preparing this home, and a lot of care to their young. It was funny that everytime she came home with food the dinner bell would ring.
Their home has fallen into disrepair. All the chimes have fallen to one side. Unfortunately everytime I think about repairing it, it's spring again and the process of moving in has begun. Maybe I could repair it but, I have this fear that while reaching for it a bird will fly out and give me a heart attack. Oh well, maybe next year, I hope you all are enjoying the signs of spring. Deb
