Special, Special, Delivery! ~ Couldn't Wait til Friday

I know I'm not suppose to be here posting but, as you know, I was lucky again and won the giveaway hosted by Dot @ Picket's Place. Well I couldn't wait until friday to share this with you. My husband was on his way to the mailbox, when he opened the door, this is what he found. I'd been home all day, and the mailman is suppose to ring the bell to let you know he's leaving a package but he just left it, no bell. Anyway "I WAS THRILLED"! when I saw it.

I opened it right away!

Inside was a note from Dot, her words were so kind and beautiful, I felt blessed to have received the note if there was nothing else.

The lovely pear shaped dishes were so beautiful, and she even added a book that I plan to use for the recipes that you guys post. I'll add your names so that I'll know that it came from you.

Here, are the black candle holders and a package of note cards and envelopes to match the recipe book.

Dot said, every room needs a little black and I think these will fit well into my kitchen, as I already have a few touches of black, and the frogs remind me of Dot's story about her Frogie.

See, they look great!. No I haven't began to tackle the kitchen yet. I bought a couple of gadgets to remove the wallpaper but, I can't get started. I guess even though I'm tired of it, it seems like an old familiar face that I'll be getting rid of. I think that once I finish my must do list, I'll start on the kitchen.

Wow! look how well Dot's pear dishes matches my platter, I found a little bowl at the Dollar Tree yesterday that will do in the center until I find the perfect one. My husband said he really likes them, then I thought to myself, it must be a guy thing, because Dot's husband really liked them too. LOL!!! I was equally amazed at how the recipe book matched it all. This started my wheels to turning and I thought wouldn't it be nice if I could use all of those colors on the book to redecorate my kitchen. I just love the colors, blue, yellow, rust, and the green I already have. They're all rich earthy colors, what do you think?

I was thinking of using three wide horizontal stripes, maybe starting with blue, then rust, then blue again. While I was in the kitchen thinking, my little Minipoo, I guess bored with playing with her own toys, goes into the bathroom and gets a roll of toilet paper, she then brings it into the den and begans to devour it. When I stopped to see what all the noise was about, I yelled, and she took refuge in her crate.

Now she's looking silly, every time she gets into trouble she puts herself in time out, or jail , whatever she calls it LOL!!!. I guess for some reason she thinks she's safe in there. She thought it was safe earlier today when she made a boo boo on the den floor. But it wasn't, ( safe I mean) :O) She had to spend 15 minutes outside, where she's suppose to use the bathroom. She hates being left outside, she just barks at the door to come in, I wish she would bark at the door to go out! LOL!!! Hopefully she'll soon get the connection. It's not often that she makes mistakes, but she doesn't know how to let me know she has to go out, I have to be the one that keeps taking her.

Remember This? ~ This Is Now This! ~ Shameful!

Around the middle of spring my backyard looked like this. It was waiting on nothing but green grass and more flowers in bloom?

These are flower beds one, two, and three. The beds were ready for just about anything. All I had to do was to go get it and plant it. Then blogging became pretty much an all day pass time to me. And passed time was what it did. Sure I found time for inside work, that's a must. But there was absolutely no time for outside work. Then I blamed it on the heat. "It's too hot! In the pass, I would get up at the crack of dawn before the sun came out to get my outside work done. It was a passion of mine! Now I only procrastinate and watch my backyard and a few other things go untouched. Well today is the start of a new day! I just can't keep up with everything and "Somethings Got To Give" Look! Just Look! what I've allowed to happen.

This is flower bed one. I needs weeding and edging, it's my husbands job to edge them but, since I hadn't seemed to care I guess he didn't either.

This is flower bed two. A mess!

This is the fourth bed, right in front of the screened porch area. A double mess! I never did put down pine straw, therefore the weeds just had their way. This picture is after I went out there Monday evening and pull a few weeds but there is still a large patch, and I need to move some things around that the elephant ears have hidden, and get straw down. There are also other areas outside that need my attention. My garage looks the same as I have been saying that I was going to get it cleaned out and have a yard sale to get some of this junk out of the house and so far it's only been a thought. Closets need attention too. Although I love blogging ladies and gents, I must take some significant time off to get my house in order. I decided that until I get these things done I will only post or visit on Friday's. I will be missing all of you but, this must be done. Deb

I'm In ~ Pink Saturday

I'm joining in on the fun of Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly @ How Sweet The Sound, that is until my pink runs out. To participate you have to email Beverly, she will then add your name to her list. Now if you've seen my kitchen you've seen this platter, I fell in love with the large pink flower, I've never used the platter for anything but as a display but I just love how it holds it's own on the counter.

This dish I do use, I use it for fruit , nuts, candy etc. The both of them fit this counter perfectly.

This is the shelf above the window at my kitchen sink, it houses the other two pieces that go with the set, a pitcher and a canister. They all have the lovely pink flower. I bought this set at Big Lots about 5yrs ago. They don't have things like this anymore at Big Lots.

Last but certainly not least my Pink Flamingo, I love this lamp. It's metal and sits on a marble base. I've had it about 10 years, and purchased it at Stein Mart. I had a choice between it and a Rooster with the same base but a white globe. I wanted them both but, I really loved the flamingo. It cost me 100.00, and it weighs about 7lbs. He sits in my living room.
Forgive me that I won't be here today to visit with other Pink Saturday participants, my husband and I have made plans that will keep us out all day but, I will visit as much as I can in the days to follow. Deb

Pet Grooming Day & Murphy's Law

Remember I told you that Minipoo was in need of grooming. I check our yellow pages and found two within my zip code. The first on I call stated they were open Tues, thru Sat. but I could not reach them. The other was Miss Patty of Patty's Mobil Pet Grooming. Patty called me back and I set the appointment for Friday at 8:am. Upon Patty's arrival I was informed that she would have to use my electricity. I thought to myself okay Patty then your fee should be 25.00 instead of 30.00 but I said nothing and rolled with it.

She then took Minipoo out to the van and told me that it would take 30 to 45 minutes. My imagination ran away with me a couple of times as I check to make sure the van was still there and she had not committed a dog napping. Silly me!

About thirty five minutes later the phone rang, I looked at the caller i.d. and it was Patty. Patty wanted to know if I had a blow dryer, hers had just stopped working. I told Patty I did, and she asked if I could bring it out to her. I said okay. By now I'm feeling like the assistant and supplier and that the fee should be 20.00 and not 25.00.

So now I'm thinking what else could happen, and I kept a close look out for Minipoo. I see them exit the van, and Mini was still alive. So I took her, and Patty said that she was great, that she just sat there and let her do what she needed to do. Mini did look pretty, she had a little pink bow on top of her head and a bandanna around her neck but, it was yellow, red, and blue, with dog houses, bones, and fire hydrants that I thought should have been for a boy dog, but I didn't fret none. Patty had a special that included a citrus bath with the grooming. And she smelled wonderful.

Then it was time to pay for the services, I had two twenties and handed them to Patty, she preceded to fold them up and I said, "that's two twenties I didn't have any change, and I said to myself, ("and you used my electricity and hair dryer and I delivered"). Then she said, "well I don't have any change either, can you write a check? So I did, and I thought as she walked away, that's an example of Murphy's Law if any.

Will I use Patty again? Of course, I will. Anyone can have a bad day, it's Murphy's Law.

IT'S NOT OVER

After Patty left I thought I should hurry and take Minipoo out so she could relieve herself. Oh she looked so pretty and I couldn't wait to get pictures to show you. After she did her thing, she preceded to slide her body in the grass up and down, up and down and she was now missing the bow from her head. I said Minipoo, what are you doing? The grass was still wet from the mornings dew and suddenly I didn't recognize her. I picked her up and brought her in.

She started to run, sliding her body against the front of the couch as fast as she could, up one side and .....

down the other, when I looked at her, she looked like this.....

LOL! and this.....

I thought you silly little dog, you are really having a bad hair day because.....

if I look in the dictionary for Bad Hair Day, there would be a picture of you looking like this! Well I had to go outside to find her bow, and I just let her hair dry naturally so below you'll find before an after pics.

This is before her grooming.....

And this is after, isn't she lovely, now you can see her eyes. She had to be taken down low to remove the mats and I'll show you a picture when she's all grown out again and groomed the way she's suppose to be. Whew! What a day!

List the songs and tell why you like them
Then I am to tag 7 other bloggers to do the same.

Welcome to "The Grin Room" I'm blushing and as red as a beet while I'm writing these songs down. I probably won't be able to say specifically why I like them, other than, I just, I LOVE THESE SONGS! Maybe I have some bad girl tucked deep inside of me, "let's just hope she's not trying to get out"! Down Girl, down!

Here's my list:
1. Last Name - Carrie Underwood

2. Redneck Woman - Gretchen Wilson

3. Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde - Travis Tritt

As you know I'm deemed "The Queen of Karaoke" at family functions. So to stay "Up On Game" you can find me downstairs on stage, any day of the week, anytime, just whenever it get the fever, practicing. Thursday I went and bought a .......

Microphone Stand LOL!

I needed it to accommodate the background singers on the left stage.

But when I'm alone I use it for Center Stage, and I'm having a ball! You can see more of this room by clicking here.

I'M HAVING A GOOD HAIR DAY

Come with me if you will, to the Hair Salon. It's at the top of the stairs and second door to the left. My Niece is treating me to an after hours "Get Rid Of The Bad Hair Blues Day". Why? Just because she's the sweetest young lady in town. My sister will be here too because she has a standing appointment every Saturday at this time.

Here I am, at R G Allen's Hair Salon. Step in side and meet the proprietors, isn't that sign lovely.

This is Regina, Owner, Licensed Master Cosmetologist, certified by the State Of Alabama, specializing in total hair care for women, with 14 years experience. She also has plans to further her education to become a licensed instructor. And she gorgeous too.

This is Greg, Owner, and husband to Regina. Pharmaceutical Distribution Supervisor by day, evenings and weekends, a licensed Master Barber, certified by the State of Alabama, specializing in all haircare needs for men, with 19 years experience.

They both have had booths in other shops in the past, in fact they met in one of them. Now married, they decided to invest in a business for themselves, and I must admit are doing very well in this joint venture. There are four stations in their shop but right now they choose to only have two working stations. "His & Hers," a little rest, peace, and quiet from the old surroundings.
Meet Robert, one of Greg's late evening appointments. Robert was a willing subject to be photographed in my Good Hair Day post.

Sideburns.....

Mustache.....

Shave.....

And the finish, Robert is now ready for a night out on the town.

In the meantime Regina has washed, and is now setting my sister's hair for the dryer.

With the drying done, she's now engaged in the curling and styling of her hair. My sister, always a little camera shy, is trying not to be noticed.

The finish, isn't it beautiful, my niece is really fantastic with short hair. She use to do my hair when it was short like my sister's, but you'll see that she's equally as fantastic with long hair!

The front view of my sister's hair looks great and Regina's capes promote Breast Cancer Awareness, something that the ladies in our family have a history of.

Side view....

Front

Now, it's all about me. Regina put in a much needed perm for me, it really felt good for a change not having to do it myself, it takes much longer when I do.

During the rinse, the hot water and scalp massage, was also far better than my doing it myself. I could have drifted into dreamland.

Here I am dried, colored, and ready for the flat iron. Regina's hair is lovely, she and I started to grow our hair long around the same time. She used to wear hers short like her mother's too, and I use to wear my hair that color until I started to gray.

When my sister showed me this picture, I teased about looking like Michael Jackson

Here I am all done, didn't she do a great job! I feel like a beautiful queen, from the back.

My hair never looks like this when I do it.

She clipped all of my split ends, my husband called me on my cell phone and said, " don't you come back here with your hair cut". I teased that I plan to because he never touches it. He lied, that he does while I'm sleeping. LOL!

Crazy picture, I don't know why I look so stiff.

I have got to get a new camera, it's really getting on my nerves, it has a blur but it's the only picture I have to show the front view of my hair and get this.... My voluptuous lips! LOL

Afterwards we all went to the FIRE + ICE Grill+Bar. None of us had been here before but, we'd heard great things. This is a market type restaurant, where you choose raw vegetables and meats that you want from a buffet, it is then cooked right before you while you wait. You get this small stainless steel, cereal sized bowl to pick the foods you want. I chose bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, zucchini, those miniature ears of corn, broccoli, water chestnuts, and raw chicken breast strips. They also had different sauces to choose from and I chose pineapple curry sauce. Then you go to the area that has the grill, they had three chefs around the grill and they each have a section of the grill. They take what you have in your bowl and put it on the grill and once the food is done they add your sauce, toss it a few seconds transfer it to your plate and you're done. You can also go back as many times as you like because it's all you can eat.

Again I'll have to apologize for my camera, but this is one of the cook's, he was hilarious. He had all the people that were waiting on their food chanting "ROLL TIDE"!, and also had them doing the Cupid Shuffle. He told us, "to all of you people standing around this counter, you have been caught". He was right by me, cause I can't wait to get back there.

This is the large grill, there's an outer counter top that circles the grill where you stand and wait for your food to be cooked. If you can tell, every body's food is sectioned off in the order that they are standing.

Again not a good picture, but here's the finish, our Waiter brought rice to go with our selections and this was the most enjoyable meal that I've had out in a long time. Don't let me forget to add that at the end of our meal Regina and Greg informed my sister and I that the dinner was their treat. WOW! WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!
